Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of basalhealth.ca and the Basal service. Please read them; they are short on purpose.

What Basal is

Basal is a virtual clinic operated by 1001459892 Ontario Inc. Clinical care is provided by nurse practitioners registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario who contract with Basal and who make every clinical decision independently. Basal provides the technology, coordination, and support that surround that care.

Basal does not sell, dispense, or ship medication and has no financial relationship with any pharmacy. If a prescription is written, it is sent to the pharmacy you choose and you purchase your medication from that pharmacy at its price.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older, physically located in Ontario at the time of care, and able to provide a valid Ontario health card number and government photo identification. Our eligibility check is a pre-screen, not a medical assessment; only a nurse practitioner can decide whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Fees

• Eligibility check: free.
• Monthly care plan: $29 per month plus applicable tax, which includes a monthly nurse practitioner review and, where appropriate, your next prescription; secure messaging; and care coordination. It renews monthly on the same date until you cancel.
• When you are charged: your card is held when you complete your intake and is charged only if your nurse practitioner approves treatment. If treatment isn't appropriate, you are not charged.
• Cancelling: any time, from your account or by email. Cancellation stops the next renewal; the current month is not refunded.
• Other services (for example, insurance authorization forms or laboratory panels) are priced individually and shown before you pay.
• Medication and laboratory tests are separate. Insured laboratory tests are billed to OHIP by the laboratory; uninsured tests are paid to the laboratory by you.

How care works, and its limits

Care is delivered asynchronously through structured questionnaires and secure messaging, with video or phone where your clinician decides it is needed. Your clinician will review your intake within one business day. Prescribing is always at the clinician's discretion; a prescription is not guaranteed by payment or by the eligibility check.

Basal is not a substitute for a family doctor or for emergency care. In an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. Do not use messaging for urgent symptoms.

Your responsibilities

• Answer intake and follow-up questions truthfully and completely.
• Tell your clinician about changes in your health, medications, or pregnancy status.
• Keep your account credentials private.
• Use the service only for yourself.

Prices shown on our website

Pharmacy and competitor prices on this site are public prices verified on the dates stated. They change without notice and are provided for information; we do not guarantee any pharmacy's price.

Liability

Clinical care is provided by independent nurse practitioners who carry their own professional liability protection. To the extent permitted by Ontario law, Basal's liability for the technology and coordination services it provides is limited to the fees you paid to Basal in the three months before the claim.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; we'll date changes and notify active patients of material ones. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada. Questions: hello@basalhealth.ca.
